2016 GMP inspection deficiency data trend
Mark Birse, MHRA Inspectorate, 21 April 2017
The MHRA recently published the 2016 GMP inspection deficiency data trend. Their data trending allows stakeholders to identify the severity and frequency by the EU GMP references, the number of deficiencies by categories (Critical, Major, Other) and the high impact vs. high frequency issues. This data should prompt stakeholders to perform their own assessment against the deficiency findings as part of self-inspection and continuous improvement.
Pharmacy sets out its strategy for the general election
Annabelle Collins, Chemist and Druggist, 21 April 2017
Following the parliamentary vote in favour of Theresa May’s snap election in June, C+D asked the pharmacy bodies how they will ensure that community pharmacy is considered in the upcoming campaign. Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) President Martin Astbury said the election is an opportunity for pharmacists – and all health professionals – to have their say. The debate will focus on the need for active and consistent support from government as well as the value provided by the community pharmacy sector to the NHS and wider society.

Mark Birse, MHRA Inspectorate, 21 April 2017
Earlier this week we published the 2016 GMP inspection deficiency data trend.
The GMDP Inspectorate improved the way of gathering the inspection deficiency data with our 2015 data set. Our data trending can allow stakeholders to identify:
- The severity and frequency by the EU GMP references
- The overall number of deficiencies by categories: Critical, Major, Other
- The high impact vs high frequency issues
The purpose of publishing the inspection deficiency data is to allow stakeholders to perform their own assessment against the deficiency findings as part of self-inspection and continuous improvement.
Deficiency examples are included for each relevant chapter and annex for information.
Note: This is the data set for dosage form only.
