|Why government’s hub-and-spoke figures are ‘laughable’
11 April 2016, C+D, Beth Kennedy
According to Mike Hewitson, NPA board member, the association has assessed the Department of Health’s figures on the benefits of running a dispensing hub against the lowest base costs and ‘couldn’t make the finances stack’,. He explained the UK Government has excluded many of the costs of setting up the hub-and-spoke model, such as capital expenditure costs. He further added the model would not necessarily save pharmacists time, as accuracy checks would still have to be made for prescriptions from a hub.

Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency: Suspended and revoked licenses for manufacturers and wholesalers of medicines
Public list of companies in the UK who have had their license to manufacture or wholesale medicines revoked or suspended.
Anyone in the pharmaceutical or medicinal supply chain should use this list to ensure they are dealing with a valid license or authorisation holder.
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) may suspend a license to wholesale or manufacture medicines and medical products if it:
• identifies safety issues
• needs to investigate a license holder
In certain circumstances MHRA will permanently revoke a license.
The list of suspensions and revocations is updated on the same day that the suspension or revocation takes place.

From Factory to Pharmacy
As part of our mission to build awareness, understanding and appreciation of the vital importance of the healthcare distribution sector, we developed an infographic explaining the availability of medicines. It identifies the factors that can impact drug supply, as well as the measures that HDA members undertake day in, day out to help mitigate the risks of patients not receiving their medicines.See the Infographic
